Project Yao, which takes its name from an ancient Chinese word for “when two people meet and look at each other,” launched in 2009. This digital humanities project involves collaboration between Arizona State University, Iowa State University, and Xi’an Jiaotong University.  Sichuan University is a legacy partner. The project provides a free, accessible database on the China-US translation relations.  The project website currently has 15-20 thousand visits per month and a total of over one million unique visits.  Together with the Antislavery Literature Project, this collaborative work has developed a new Chinese-language translation series with Shanghai Jiaotong University Press and Yeeyan Press.
