Faculty in film and media studies at ASU are engaged members of the field with leadership and editorial posts at academic societies such as Society of Cinema and Media Studies and and commercial publications such as Ms. Magazine. Their scholarship, creative work and teaching span disciplines and genres, ranging from ecocritical approaches to media, to Hollywood history, to videogame studies, to explorations of race, gender and sexuality in television, to screenwriting, to ethics of social media. Their written work appears in top scholarly journals, in trade and popular magazines, and at film festivals. Collectively, ASU’s film and media studies faculty publish books of criticism, historicism, theory, and biography, as well as anthologies and other edited collections. Many perform and produce creative work for wide audiences.
