The audio lab (RBHL 240) furthers our vision “to explore global expressions of the English language in all media” and to “cultivate individual and collective expression.” Specifically, a lab enables research and creative projects on intergenerational language transmission, endangered language preservation, speech recording and listening analysis required for linguistic research, creation of teaching materials, and archival data collection. The lab can be used by faculty, staff, and students for linguistic and creative projects like storytelling and podcasts.
The lab is equipped with a sound booth, computer, and recording equipment for use in the lab or in the field. The computer also is equipped with a Gazepoint eye tracker for UX research.
