The 32nd Annual Symposium on Arabic Linguistics (ASAL)

The 32nd Annual Symposium on Arabic Linguistics is a three-day symposium to be held at Arizona State University on Feb 23, 24, and 25, 2018 on sub-fields in Arabic Linguistics.

The main goal of the conference is to bring together like-minded linguistics scholars to share their recent work with the Arabic linguistics community, discuss current issues in Arabic language, and contribute to the Arabic linguistics field. The organizing committee of The 32nd ASAL invited submissions from graduate students, linguistics scholars, as well as other researchers interested in the Arabic language.

There will be presentations/posters from different linguistics sub-fields that discuss various recent theoretical and applied Arabic linguistics issues. Papers will include areas such as syntax, semantics, phonology, and phonetic. Other papers cover other related areas of linguistics research:

  • Sociolinguistics and dialectology
  • Computational linguistics
  • Psycholinguistics
  • Historical and comparative linguistics
  • First/second language acquisition
  • Corpus linguistics
  • Discourse analysis
  • Pragmatics
