Biography

Julia Himberg is associate professor of film and media studies at Arizona State University. She is the author of "The New Gay For Pay: The Sexual Politics of American Television Production" (University of Texas Press, 2017). Her work has appeared in scholarly journals such as Television & New Media, Flow, and In Media Res. She is co-editor of the Winter 2014 issue of “In Focus” from Cinema Journal, and her work on TV advertising has been published in The Hummer: Myths and Consumer Culture
