Scott Soutullo First Generation African American Literature Scholarship
Deadline: March 31, 2010
Scott Soutullo established this scholarship in 2007 to support undergraduate degree-seeking students interested in African American literature and cultural studies in the Department of English, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. A total of $2,500 will be awarded for the fall 2010 semester. This amount may be distributed to one or two students, with the possibility of a first place scholarship of $1,500 and a second place scholarship of $1,000.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be full-time students (enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours) during the fall semester they receive the scholarship.
- Have earned at least 25 credit hours (sophomore standing); the scholarship is open to students who are sophomores, juniors and seniors.
- Have a "B" (3.00) minimum cumulative grade point average.
- Be English majors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
It is desired (but not required) that applicants are:
- First generation college students. The definition of a first generation college student is that neither parent of the student has earned a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
Note: The donor for this scholarship has a preference for those who are first generation college students, but others who are not first generation students are welcome to apply.
