This conference includes a lunchtime panel discussion by three Arizona State University linguists who represent the scope of difference and sometimes competing ideas within the discipline. Topics to be discussed are the nature of language as a whole and its connection with so-called Universal Grammar (UG), the history of philosophy that has influenced the assumptions behind UG, and other relevant issues. Faculty members include:
