ASU English at 125

A collage of ASU's original building (now razed) fading into the current home of the Department of English, Ross-Blakley Hall.

While English and humanities studies have been part of the Arizona State University story from the beginning (1885), the Department of English was first mentioned in the 1900 Normal School of Arizona catalog

In 2025, the Department of English at ASU will celebrate its 125th year as an official department. We have a few things in the works, including updating and digitizing our written history (a hard copy is available in ASU Library archives). But we also want to gather, virtually and in person, to commemorate the occasion.

Visit this page for updates on what's being planned over the next year. And please reach out if you have any questions in the meantime.

Looking forward to 2025! Stay tuned ...
